Student Awards Presentation 2009
Our winners from 2009!!!!
Belgacem's School of Cho's Tae Kwon Do hosted its inaugural Student of The Year Presentation on Saturday 6th March at the very prestigious South Lanarkshire Banquetting Suite in Hamilton. Mr and Mrs Belgacem were joined by AIMAA Scotland Instructors, Students, Friends and Family to celebrate and recognise 2009's finest students as well as host an exciting traditional Tae Kwon Do demonstration and disco.

Awards up for grabs at the evening were, Student of The Year 2009, Dedication to AIMAA, Most Improved Student and Most Promising Student as well as well as the 'Pat Mallan Memorial Award' for contribution to Tae Kwon Do.
The evening started with a demonstration by students from the School highlighting the many different aspects of Cho's Tae Kwon Do. This demonstration included traditional patterns, linework, onestep and free sparring as well as an excellent and exciting board breaking section.
Mrs Belgacem was also joined onstage by two of her AIMAA Panthers Jake and Jonny who, it must be said, stole the show with their amazing Tae Kwon Do ability for children so young.
Full highlights of the demonstration can be seen by visiting our Youtube page at YOUTUBE.COM/CHOSTAEKWONDO.

After the demonstration was complete Mr and Mrs Belgacem were joined onstage by fellow AIMAA Scotland Instructors Mr James Lawson and Mr Kevin Mclear, special guests for the evening, who helped to present the awards. Master Kirkwood very kindly contributed a message to the awards program but was saddened to be unavailable for the event due to other commitments.
The First awards to be presented were in the 'Most Improved' category, followed by the 'Most Promising'. These were then followed by the category for 'Outstanding Acheivement'.
A very special award on the evening was presented to Miss Dorothy Mallon. Her late brother, Mr Pat Mallon, was a true leader and inspirational figure in Scottish Tae Kwon Do. Mr Mallon very sadly passed away in May 2009 and the 'Pat Mallon Memorial Award' for contribution to Tae Kwon Do is a small gesture on the part of Mr and Mrs Belgacem to help preserve the legacy of this great martial artist. There will be a small section appearing on our website over the next few weeks regarding this award and a little more on the life of Mr Mallon.

The last two awards of the evening were for 'Outstanding Acheivement' and the covented 'Student of the Year'. Mr and Mrs Belgacem would like to take this opportunity to once again commend everyone who won an award. There were only eighteen awards given out on the evening which meant that all awards were truelly and thoroughly deserved!
They would also like to thank Mr Lawson and Mr Mclear for supporting them at their first awards ceremony and also their senior students, Mr Walker, Mr Shaw and Miss Mallon. Without their continues support and contribution the school would certainly not run as successfully as it does.
